Ruhig.

To celebrate their 10th anniversary UHI have been planting trees as a part of their Future Forest project.

Each of their 10 learning centres together will plant some 500 trees. The trees represent the roots that their students have set down and the grounding that education has given them to flourish further afield.

You can check out more of the shots in the gallery above ^

The trees planted will represent the growth and reach into the future as well as giving benefit to all of the communities involved. The project hopes to embrace an increased awareness of how we treat each other and the environment.

The final tree planting took place in Strontian and was attended by members of the Nevis Landscape Partnership, including seasonal rangers as well as representatives from UHI in the form of  Tina Davenport, Carl Haberl and Derek Lewis.

It was great to be able to attend and document so many of the tree plantings as a part of this worthwhile celebration project. Including getting to plant a few trees myself! I look forward to seeing the growth of the trees, the students and UHI in the future.
